A good conference hotel. Rooms can be a bit variable since it is an old hotel which has had to adjust to the requirements of ensuite. The food was good and the staff were attentive and helpful.
Booked a table at Marco Pierre whites restaurant for my son's birthday. The service was excellent, they couldn't do enough for us ,the starters were really good, main courses were hot .my husband had steak which was cooked really nice , my son had the big Marcos burger , he really enjoyed it. I had pasta which was cooked really nice . as it was his birthday they bought the cake out for him ,we all had a really nice time definitely would recommend the restaurant and hotel as the staff were really nice thank you for a lovely evening
Beautifully decorated Kings Hall just as my Father remembers it 68 years ago! Glad to say ladies toilets very modern.
Restaurant & Bar are ridiculously over priced.Furniture in the bedrooms is disgustingly old. The rooms need to be refurbished desperately. Dust on the tops of the lamp shades is thick. However, bed was clean, entire hotel was always perfectly warm, the staff are absolutely lovely and are willing to do anything to help. The soap they provide is also very nice.
I've been to the Mercure Leicester The Grand Hotel twice now, for drinks at the bar. On both occasions I was served by Morgan, who was exceptionally professional, well presented, helpful, friendly and very knowledge regarding alcohol. He even offered to make his own cocktail, called "Northern Lights". To say that it was amazing is an understatement - I drank 6 in quick succession! You really should add it to the list of permanent cocktails!
